Privacy Policy

Stilo (the “app”) is a Markdown editor for iPhone and iPad, made by osprey74 (the “developer”). The app collects no personal information.

What the app does not collect

The app never collects, transmits or stores any of the following:

Identifiers such as your name, email address or phone number
Usage analytics or advertising identifiers
Location, contacts, photos or calendars
The contents of the documents you write

The app contains no analytics or advertising SDKs, and the developer runs no servers.

What is stored on your device

The following stays on your device and is never sent to the developer:

Your documents. They are saved as files in the location you choose: On My iPhone, iCloud Drive or another cloud service. Saving and syncing are handled by the iOS Files system. The app never uploads your documents on its own.
App settings such as view mode, text size, East Asian typography options, writing goals, the tag toolbar and your app icon choice.
Imported fonts, which are copies of the font files you choose in Files.

Deleting the app removes these from your device. Documents stored outside the app, such as files in iCloud Drive, remain where they are.

In-app purchase

Stilo Pro is purchased through the App Store. Payment details and Apple Account information are handled by Apple and are never seen by the app. The app stores only whether the purchase is active.

Network activity

The app connects to the network only in these cases, each of which you initiate:

Fetching product information and making or restoring a purchase (to Apple)
Opening or saving a document stored in iCloud Drive or another cloud service (handled by the iOS Files system)
Opening a link from your document (handled by your browser)
Previewing a document that references an image hosted elsewhere (to whoever hosts that image)

On that last point: if your Markdown contains an external image written as ![](https://…), the preview loads that image. The host receives the same information as any ordinary web request, such as your IP address and the kind of browser engine in use. This request does not happen unless you preview a document containing an external image.

Diagnostic logs

The app may write diagnostic records to the system log on your device to help investigate problems. Those logs stay on the device, and the developer does not collect them automatically.

If your device participates in Apple's “Analytics & Improvements”, crash information may be shared anonymously with the developer through Apple. You can change this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

Sharing with third parties

Because nothing is collected, there is nothing to share.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed at any particular age group, and as described above it collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, this page will be updated and the date above revised. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
